Don D. introduced Chiemi Lee, Director at the Orange Coast Boys & Girls club. She was born in the Bay area but

Recently, the Irvine Boys & Girls club joined the Boys & Girls club of Orange Coast with other locations in Santa Ana, Costa Mesa, and Newport Beach. We played a fun Jeopardy game to learn about the Boys and Girls club. They have an “Early Literacy” program. There are 30+ million illiterate people in the US. They teach “Kinder to 3rd grade and serve over 800 kids and over 400 families.

The Boys & Girls Club of Santa Ana was founded in 1941 and has a number of famous “Club Kids.” Child pictures were shown of Denzel Washington, Shaun White,Jennifer Lopez, Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson. The club is partners with 42 non-profits!

Their student to Mentor ratio is 1 to 8, they recommend over 60 minutes per day of exercise (because the average kid does over 7 hours per day of screen time and ingests over 40%of their calories from fat, carbs and sugar!). All of their programs are FREE of charge!
